About Dodges Ferry Primary School Association
The Dodges Ferry Primary School Association brings parents, staff and community together to support and improve our school. We are dedicated to enhancing the educational experience of our students and fostering a sense of community within the school. Our association works on various initiatives to provide resources and support for the school's growth and development.
Our school community is a welcoming, caring place where we work together to support student learning in ways that respect different student strengths and family circumstances..
Healthy eating focus
We believe real food at school is important, including a healthy and engaging breakfast club (run at Okines Community House), our Healthy Lunches program, and offering allergy aware low/no additive fun foods and drinks at school events.
Our school is part of the Move Well Eat Well program - a Tasmanian government program supporting children’s health and well-being in primary schools and early childhood services.
Outdoor learning focus
The school association supports outdoor learning that enriches the classroom experience and engages students in the natural environment where students enjoy the many benefits of outdoor play and learning.
We support the school's rich offering of specialist class time including art, music, drama, sport and exercise for all students.

Our School Association plays an important role at Dodges Ferry Primary School.
Our role includes:
• encouraging parent involvement in our school
• participating in developing school policy
• approving the school budget
• advising on school management
• organising fundraising
• participating in selecting a new Principal when the position becomes vacant
All parents/carers and staff of the school are automatically members of the School Association (unless they have requested otherwise) and are eligible to be elected to the School Association Committee.
The School Association is an integral part of our school operations. The School Association’s function, objectives and purpose are to participate in the formulation and development of a set of beliefs, values and priorities for the school.
The association also provides advice and recommendations to the school principal in relation to the general operations and management of the school.
We are an incorporated not-for-profit association with a volunteer committee elected each year under a constitution approved by the Minister for Education. We are also a member of the Tasmanian Association of State School Organisations.
We encourage co-operation, easy to access school information and parent and community participation at school. Our working groups and sub-committees involve parents in hands on activities that provide services, raise funds and contribute to school policy.
Monies raised by the association through various fundraising activities during the year, in addition to the contributions made by families, are used to improve and enhance facilities at the school for the benefit of the students.
